I have always been very curious about natural options to our conventional beauty products. I am a strong believer that nature is absolutely capable of providing everything we need to keep healthy and heal.

We will show you how to make this simple skincare product yourself, with only five ingredients!

The exfoliating properties of sugar combined with the calming fragrance of lavender will have you feeling rejuvenated and relaxed all at once.

Why use natural beauty products?

Some beauty products can have very harsh substances that we are not even aware of, so finding alternatives that can achieve the same results while having more natural ingredients in their composition is something I am very passionate about and try to implement in my skincare routine.

My journey into finding more natural options to the products I use started when I decided to stop using relaxers on my hair and just let it go back to being curly. That process was very eye opening and I will definitely discuss this topic with more details in a different post. I think a lot of people going through this process will be able to relate and find some great insight.

Letting my hair go back to its natural texture was a very long and not so enjoyable process at times. I gave up a couple of times but eventually I convinced mysef it was the best thing to do and I am so glad I stuck to it. It definitely paid off.

It was such an interesting experience to find out that with a litte bit of patience and dedication I could achieve professional results using natural ingredients that I had at home. I just needed to watch a few tutorials and understand a bit more about the properties of some ingredients.

I couldn’t be happier with how my hair turned out after a couple of years of personal research and understanding. But I didn’t stop there. I decided to expand that experience and also research about natural skincare options.

I was amazed by the variety of alternatives already available and how convenient it was to achieve amazing results using simple ingredients you most definitely already have hidden in your pantry.

The Benefits of Lavender

The properties of lavender are many. The most common is calming and relaxing. Some would say it is actually sedative. Is so powerful that is recommended to aid insomnia and sleep disorders. You can place a lavender sachet under your pillow to help you sleep better.

Because of it’s natural calming agent, lavender is used to aid anxiety and stress. Lavender infusions and baths are great options for people suffering from this disorders. Due to it’s antispasmodic properties, Lavander can be used to aid indigestion, cramps and stomach cramps and is also antiseptic.

On top of all that lavender has aromatic properties too. It’s fragrance is very subtle and soothing and is so comforting and common that you can find it in most cleaning products, shampoos, body creams, etc.

I remember reading about lavender and how many mums were recommending to have it handy when you go into labour. They advised to use a few drops on your wrists and whenever the pain was getting slightly stronger to take some deep breaths and a little sniff on your wrist. I remember feeling this calming sensation just shoot through my body and almost immediately feeling more grounded and relaxed.

I was skeptical but the relief I felt was undeniable. And also the fact that lavender is such a familiar fragrance helps you to feel naturally more calm.

DIY Lavender Sugar Scrub Recipe

In this article we will share with you our amazing lavender sugar scrub recipe. You will not believe the how easy it is to find the ingredients and to make this scrub.

From a very young age I realised I need to have a skincare routine. Brazil is a very hot country and we are constantly exposed to the sun, which we know is great to top up your vitamin D but too much exposure can be harmful.

Making sure your skin is well cared for after sun exposure is very important in any circumstance but living in a tropical country definitely made me more aware of it. My skin type is fairly dry and I noticed it from a very young age. I tried my best to keep it protected and hydrated and whenever I neglected my skin I could feel a difference.

As a teenager I had a very basic skincare routine. It would only involve washing, exfoliating and moisturizing. I remember really enjoying the exfoliating part because of the immetiate soft sensation on the skin and the feeling of lightness and freshness.

I used to do my own body scrub at home with honey and sugar and smothering myself in bodycream afterwards. I remember seeing my aunties making it and using it regularly. It had such basic ingredients but it left such a good feeling on the skin. I also noticed it makes a whole difference to exfoliate before moisturizing.

As a more mature woman I need to be more thorough with my skin regimen. I make sure I exfoliate at least once a week and I am constantly checking for more natural alternatives for the products that I use and adjusting my routine regularly.

Below you can find the recipe to this amazing body scrub that combines only 5 ingredients that you most probably have at home. We hope you love it as much as we did.
